CIS Enrolments 2020

Enrolments at Canberra Islamic School Enrolments are open for 2020. If you wish to enrol your children, please fill in the online enrolment form here: CIS Online Enrolment Form Please complete the form and enrolments will need to be completed on Enrolment Day, Sunday, 9 February 2020. On the day, you can pay fees, buy books and meet staff and returning and new students and families, inshaAllah. Enrolments: 11am-1pm Venue: Melrose High School Hall, 35 Marr St, Pearce Classes will start on Sun, 16 Feb at 10am, inshaAllah.

CIS Iftar & Competitions

  All children get a gift! To volunteer towards the Iftar and dessert or helping out: https://forms.gle/X5C6pC4eKKepPibe9 Quran Competition – For ages up to 18 Register online for the Quran Competition here:  https://forms.gle/vZGDf7EkK912dFnR6 To prepare for the competition, practice the surah/few ayaat you are best at. If you are registering on the day, please arrive at the Masjid at 2:00pm so you can register for the Quran competition and then pray Salatul ‘Asr together. You may also like to help decorate the Masjid! Registrations for the Quran Comp will close and the competition will start promptly at 3:10pm, inshaAllah. Upon registration, you will receive a slip with your name and the category you will compete in: A: Knows few surahs (less than 1 Juz) B: Knows 1-3 Juz C: Knows more than 4 Juz Given the time constraint, each competitor will have a maximum of 30 seconds to recite a short surah or few verses of their choice. Enrolment Waiting List

  Enrolments close at the end of the 2nd Sunday of any Term. Student numbers are limited to 20 per Level. Outside of this time, please fill in the online  CIS Waiting List  form. You child/ren will stay in the waiting list in the order you have registered, inshaAllah.

CIS Annual Iftar – June 3, 2018

  Assalamu Alaikum wr wb Dear Parents, Guardians, Children & Friends of CIS! The Canberra Islamic School Annual  Iftar  and  Compet itions  is on Sunday, 3 June, at 2:00pm inshaAllah – all families and friends of CIS are invited! There will be no classes on the day. Please arrive at 2pm so that children can register for the Quran competition before it starts and the creative competition can be judged before Maghrib. Level 1-Islamic Studies Lesson on 08/04/18

  Assalamu alaikum Wr Wbr, Dear Parents, Alhamdulillah, after a quick revision of the six articles of faith, we spoke further of the first article of faith,  “Belief in Allah”. We began by engaging the children in discussion of a picture of two muslim children playing in a playground. This included some open ended questions focusing on giving the children an understanding of the One Creator of all living and natural things around them, Allah. They were taught that the Arabic word for  Creator  was  “Al Khaliq”  . To further reinforce this a Nasheed describing Allah’s creations was recited, the children were able to name Allah’s creations mentioned in the Nasheed. A poem,  “Allah is One ” was then recited to help children to identify Allah as One God and Allah as  Eternal.  Arabic words  “Al Ahad”  and  “As Samad”  were also taught which meant “Only One” and “Eternal”. Level 1 - Islamic Studies for 04th, 11th & 18th March 2018

Assalamu Alikum Wr Wbr, Dear Parents, Alahamdulillah, the children are becoming more comfortable and settling in well as they have begun to understand how the routine of the Sunday school operates and are more familiar with their new surrounding and faces within the CIS at the Yarralumala masjid. They are also making new friendships among their groups and also developing some trusting relationships with their teachers including myself and Sr Zainub. Over the last couple of weeks we have been extending on the children’s learning on becoming familiar with everyday Arabic phrases, through nasheeds, games, interactive discussions and watching videos on this topic. This I find has helped the children identify the various occasions when these Arabic phrases are being used in their everyday activities and have displayed a good understanding of remembering their creator and thanking Him for everything in their everyday life.
