Level 1-Islamic Studies Lesson on 08/04/18

Assalamu alaikum Wr Wbr, Dear Parents, Alhamdulillah, after a quick revision of the six articles of faith, we spoke further of the first article of faith,  “Belief in Allah”. We began by engaging the children in discussion of a picture of two muslim children playing in a playground. This included some open ended questions focusing on giving the children an understanding of the One Creator of all living and natural things around them, Allah. They were taught that the Arabic word for  Creator  was  “Al Khaliq”  . To further reinforce this a Nasheed describing Allah’s creations was recited, the children were able to name Allah’s creations mentioned in the Nasheed. A poem,  “Allah is One ” was then recited to help children to identify Allah as One God and Allah as  Eternal.  Arabic words  “Al Ahad”  and  “As Samad”  were also taught which meant “Only One” and “Eternal”. To further reinforce this a mini book called “Allah” was read out which the children listened to with much interest. As

Level 1 - Islamic Studies for 04th, 11th & 18th March 2018

Assalamu Alikum Wr Wbr, Dear Parents, Alahamdulillah, the children are becoming more comfortable and settling in well as they have begun to understand how the routine of the Sunday school operates and are more familiar with their new surrounding and faces within the CIS at the Yarralumala masjid. They are also making new friendships among their groups and also developing some trusting relationships with their teachers including myself and Sr Zainub. Over the last couple of weeks we have been extending on the children’s learning on becoming familiar with everyday Arabic phrases, through nasheeds, games, interactive discussions and watching videos on this topic. This I find has helped the children identify the various occasions when these Arabic phrases are being used in their everyday activities and have displayed a good understanding of remembering their creator and thanking Him for everything in their everyday life. JazzakhAllah Khair for your support in practicing these with them at

Assalamu Alaikum Wr Wbr, Dear parents, Alhamdulillah, last Sunday we spoke about “What Muslims say”. Before we began we discussed of the typical routine all need to follow as they come in to the class after the 2nd recess. This gave the children an understanding of a few basic rules to follow in getting ready for the lesson as well as we spoke of some rules to follow during the lesson. The children agreed that this was important so the lesson will be beneficial to all and not disturb anyone. They also understood that these are a part of good manners, which we Muslims should always be mindful of always. The children identified the action of saying nice things as part of having good manners, Then they were introduced to some Arabic phrases like Bismillah, assalmau alaikum, Alhamdulillah and so on by a nasheed and a story book. Some of them were familiar with some of these phrases as they said that they heard their mum/dad/brother/sister saying them. We then practiced the different scen

The 2018 Enrolment Day:  Sun, 4 February From 10:30am to 1:00pm At 130 Empire Circuit, Yarralumla All new and returning students have to enrol for 2018. In 2018, we are having to restrict student numbers to 20 students per Level and are offering existing students the first opportunity to re-enrol. We have had to come to this decision after much deliberation for many reasons: the Masjid is not equipped for the large numbers and this has put our children’s safety at risk teachers have not been able to teach effectively due to large class sizes students have had trouble learning in class it is hoped that parents and students take the Islamic education offered at CIS seriously knowing that many others are missing out. Enrolment Conditions:  this is a summary of conditions you need to be aware of: Students must turn  5 years  old on or before  30   April  of the year of enrolment or have started Kindergarten Attend regularly Inform absences of more than 1 day If absent for 3 continuous da
